Blueberries – milk == better?

Don’t mess with my for .  Apparently, the antioxidants in blueberries have a “high affinity” for milk protein.   So, the goodness of blueberries added to my cereal has been diminished by the protein of the milk!

A good summary of the study can be found .   One of the most important statements of the article is probably as follows.

Just so you are aware of the fact, any fruit (or vegetable) that is heated to high temperatures destroys phenolics. So, even though blueberry pie may taste great, it is not going to be that great for your health.

So, given that my backup plan of eating blueberry pies was just shot down – I’ll just eat my blueberries for a non-dairy snack – maybe with some granola..
